Electric Trench Heating Specifications

Casing

Trench casing assemblies, including mesh element covers etc, and are manufactured from 1.2 Zintec steel and the interior is painted matt black. Adjustment screws are provided by M6 x 50mm hex headed screws through threaded inserts in the base of the casing which gives a +35mm range of adjustment.
Irrespective of "run" length individual modules are restricted to a maximum of 1250mm long to aid transportation and handling.

Casing assemblies are joined using M3.5 x 9.5 self-drilling screws through prepared locating holes. A protruding "tongue" arrangement provides a positive and effective seal between casing joins. The casings have no unnecessary holes whilst cable entry/exit apertures are fitted with sealing grommets.

Heating Elements

The casings are fitted with a 230V stainless steel 304 grade, finned U shaped heating element with M4 terminals. (wattage varies from unit to unit but is clearly labelled on each electrics cover panel). An adjustable thermostat provides temperature control. (maximum current rating: 16A 240V 50Hz).
Temperature adjustments may be made by inserting an insulated 5/6mm flat bladed screwdriver through the aperture provided in the electrics cover panel. (Turn clockwise to increase temperature, anti-clockwise to decrease temperature).

Overheat protection is provided by a bi-metal over-temperature "Cut-out". This operates at approximately 90 degree C to 98 degree C. In the unlikely event of the unit "tripping out" during normal operating conditions no user intervention is required. The "cut out" will reset itself after the required cooling off period of 20 - 30 minutes.

Elements are fully installed and pre-wired to a terminal block beneath an electronics cover panel. These elements are not clamped at their looped ends which allows expansion/contraction movement without any of the "clicks" or other noises associated with some equipment.

Grilles

The "cross blade" rigid spar grille utilise our standard grille extrusion which is manufactured from 6063 T6 grade aluminium and are anodised natural satin silver/grey AA15 finish. This grille and frame can also be powder coated to any standard RAL colour at an extra cost. Grilles can be made "tamperproof" by the fitment of our special "Hold Down" clips. (See Grille Hold-Down Clip Fitment)

Grille Hold-Down Clip Fitment

Once the cross blade grilles have been placed into the frame/edge trim and you are happy with the result begin by tucking the short straight end of the clip under the edge trim. The clip is then rotated forward over the grille tube. The "hooked" leg of the hold down clip should now be lying between two adjacent grille spars. Now using a flat bladed screwdriver carefully push the leg of the clip down between the grille spars and locate the "hooked" end under the adjacent grille spar.
